Reaching a New Apex: Apex Legends Review
April 30, 2020
Apex Legends is a first-person class-based Battle Royale developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts (EA). Apex Legends is fully online and free to play.
Respawn does what it’s done in the past like with Titanfall 2 by tweaking and changing a genre with creative ideas that sets the game apart from other games in the genre.
For example, Respawn introduced a respawn feature that allows players to retrieve a banner from someone’s death box which they can use at a respawn beacon to bring their teammate back.
The next feature is the pinging system. With a press of a button, players can ping any item, enemies, cargo bots locations and even what their character is doing if the player holds the button and selects from the ping wheel.
Another new addition is the jumpmaster feature. Players cannot play solos, only duos and trios as of right now. However, the jumpmaster feature helps teams stay together by making the other player/players follow the jumpmaster. The jumpmaster can defer the title to someone else, and everyone can choose to go solo.
The last new feature in Apex is the class/legend system. At the beginning of a game, the player selects which legend they want to play as. At the moment, there are 12 distinct legends, each with their own unique passive, tactical and ultimate abilities. There are also only 60 players in a match as opposed to the normal 100.
