Russian Tea Cakes
December 10, 2019
This is an original recipe that I made.
This is a pastry that is often eaten during Christmas in the United States. It was made from a jumble pastry (a common pastry in England that was popular during the middle ages that were served during their tea time). It resembles Spanish wedding cookies, but it does not taste like it.
- ½ cup of butter
- ¾ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup of chopped walnuts
- ⅓ cup of powdered sugar
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a medium bowl mix together the butter and vanilla extract, until smooth.
- Combine the 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar to the mixture, and then the flour together.
- Mix the walnuts in.
- Roll the dough into balls.
- Roll the ball into the ½ cup of powdered sugar.
- Place them one inch apart on a pan (with parchment paper).
- Then bake for 12 to 16 minutes, or put a toothpick in a cookie to see if it is full.
Note:
You can also decorate them by sprinkling powdered sugar on the cookies.
