Olivia Marcus is the newest addition to West Hardin High School. She is a first-year teacher, and she Teaches Algebra 1 and Algebra 2.

“I became a teacher because it is something I have always wanted to do. I love the fact that I get to come to school to teach students and hopefully make a positive impact on their lives. I realized as soon as I saw the job opening posted, and knew I’d be a perfect fit for it,” Marcus said.

She has many achievements from her time in college.

“I graduated in August with my Bachelor’s Degree from Lamar University. I kept a 4.0 in the last four semesters of school. I got a job as soon as I graduated school,” Marcus said.

Marcus is enjoying West Hardin so far.

“I love West Hardin. I think it is a great place to work and teach. I have never been anywhere that is so willing to lend a helping hand. Everyone has been so nice and welcoming,” Marcus said.

She has high hopes for this school year.

I know it will be a great school year,” Marcus said.

During her school, Marcus really enjoyed math.

“Honestly, my favorite subject in school was math. I have always understood it and actually would help my fellow classmates out on the material,” Marcus said.

She has some advice for her students this year.

“You can do anything you put your heart and mind to. You are intelligent and also capable of doing extraordinary things. I believe in you,” Marcus said.
